MEET MIKE BURCH

Mike Burch is a lifelong resident of Pageland and a tenth-generation South Carolinian. Mike was named the 2022 South Carolina Young Lawyer of the Year by the South Carolina Bar. He also received the SC Bar President’s Award for the 2021-2022 Bar year and was named a SC Bar “Star of the Quarter” in 2020 and in 2021.

 

Mike currently serves as the Senior Assistant Solicitor in Lancaster County, which is part of the Sixth Judicial Circuit. He has served as an Assistant Solicitor for the past six years. Mike has prosecuted various cases including: murder, armed robbery, burglary, criminal sexual conduct, violent crimes, property crimes, drug crimes, and domestic violence. He is the Lancaster County lead prosecutor on the Sixth Circuit Veteran’s Court. Mike is also the part-time Solicitor for the City of Lancaster’s municipal court.

 

Before that, he worked for two years as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Judge Roger Henderson in Chesterfield. Throughout his clerkship, Mike assisted Judge Henderson in court throughout the 4th Judicial Circuit and the State of South Carolina. Mike attended public schools in Pageland and earned his Associate, Bachelor’s, and Law Degree from the University of South Carolina. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from USC with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice.

 

Mike was an NJCAA Academic All-American for the USC-Lancaster Golf Team. He is a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Pageland and has been a firefighter since he was 16 years old. 

 

He currently serves as the Secretary-Treasurer for the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division and will serve as the President-Elect for the 2023-2024 Bar Year. Mike is also a member of the SC Bar Board of Governors and SC Bar House of Delegates. He previously served as the Sixth Circuit Representative for the SC Bar YLD. He also serves as the Treasurer for the Lancaster County Bar Association

 

Mike and his wife Ally live in Pageland with their two young children, Paul and Eleanor. Mike met his wife, Ally, in law school during their first year at the University of South Carolina School of Law. Mike’s wife is a practicing attorney in Chesterfield.

Mike and his family are members of First Baptist Church of Pageland. Mike is also a member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #58 and the Jamil Shrine Temple and Sandhill Shrine Club.

 

Mike's family has a history of serving in law enforcement; his great-great grandfather was a Police Chief; great uncle was a SC Highway Patrolman; father was a Lieutenant for the Pageland Police Department; and sister is an Agent for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

 

Mike’s family lives in Chesterfield and Darlington Counties. Mike is admitted to practice law in all South Carolina Courts and has been a member of the South Carolina Bar since 2015.
